Music

At Broadmere we teach music through the Charanga scheme of work. Music is possibly the most powerful and versatile subject in the curriculum. There are no boundaries to its relevance and its links with people, language, science, mathematics, physical and social development, *personal agency, and of course geography, history, media, culture and human relations – even politics.

Thrive:

By exposing our students to an in-depth variety of exciting and contrasting musical genres we hope to develop a discovery within each student for a love of music. We want our students to thrive for greatness whether that be by learning a new instrument or uncovering their musical ability from within.

Aspire:

Aspirations in our school are very clear when it comes to music: every student can succeed if the goals are present. Students will build on confidence through each lesson and the understanding and knowledge learnt will become an incredible foundation for future life encounters.

Achieve:

By developing student’s knowledge and exposing them to new ideas and genres, music can allow each student to attain success at their own ability. Not only will students build on knowledge, but they will also construct their own life skills such as - a build on confidence.

The framework for our curriculum is Kapow:

This is enhanced by other sources which motivate learners to observe, listen, imitate and play.
